The Papyrus of Ani, Chapter 124

Text:

A spell to go down to the divine Council of Osiris.

Words spoken by the Osiris scribe Ani, true of voice:

I have built for my soul a sanctuary in Busiris, a growing thing in the district of Buto.

I have plowed the fields with my labors, and my palm tree is above it like Min.

I abhor, I abhor; I do not eat that which I abhor. Dung is what I abhor; I do not eat it, nor the offerings to the kas of the stars which are there.

I do not come up to it with my arms, nor tread on it with my sandles, because my bread is of white millet, and my beer is of red barley of Hapi, brought by the Evening Boat and the Morning Boat, and I comsume them under the foliage, whose shoulders I know.

How I glorify the White Crown there, and the uraei lift me up!

O keeper of the door of the god of offerings of the Two Lands, I have brought that with which offering-bread is made; grant that I may bear the soil, and that the glorified spirits may open their arms to me.

The company of gods is silent, and the people speak with the Osiris Ani.

The hearts of the gods lead to sanctify him in heaven among the images of the gods.

If any god or any goddess opposes the Osiris scribe Ani, true of voice, the Ancestor of the Year will eat him when he comes forth from the east.

He is accounted for by the Ancestors of Ra; he is accounted for by the ancestors of the shining light spirits, clothed in heaven among the great ones.

The possessions of the Osiris scribe Ani are among the bread and beer for your mouths.

I have entered upon the solar disk; I have come forth upon the god Ahui.

I have spoken with the followers of the gods; I have spoken with the solar disk; I have spoken with the people.

May he grant that I may have victory in the utter darkness within the goddes Mehweret at the side of his forehead.

Indeed, may I be with Osiris; his mat is my mat among the great ones.

He speaks to me the words of men and women; I listen and repeat for him the words of the gods.

I have come, the Osiris Ani, true of voice in peace and prepared, causing what he desires to come up to you. I am a glorified spirit, more prepared than all the glorified spirits.
